This Just In!!…

#1 “Weekend Box Office Winner.” I watched a few movies myself this weekend. Reviews have been apologies (they are soon to come)..but the holiday weekend box office proved to be very interesting. I didn’t think results would quite be the way they ended up. Would True Grit outgun Tron? Would Little Fockers roll out the laughs? Would Black Swan take a dive? Here are the actual numbers for the weekend.

  1. Little Fockers ~$30.8 million
  2. True Grit ~$24.9 million
  3. Tron Legacy ~$19.2 million
  4. The Chronicles of Narnia: VOTDT ~$9.5 million
  5. Yogi Bear 3D ~$7.8 million
  6. The Fighter ~$7.6 million
  7. Tangled ~$6.4 million
  8. Gulliver’s Travels ~$6.3 million
  9. Black Swan ~$6.25 million
  10. The Tourist ~$5.4 million

Congratulations to Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro in Little Fockers

#2-“Baby It’s Cold Outside…..again!” Ice age 4 is coming! That’s right, the animated cool adventures of Manny, Sid, Diego, Scrat, and more continue in the recently announced fourth installment of the series. Ice Age: Continental Drift will feature the voice talents of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Chris Wedge, Denis Leary, Wanda Sykes, Seann William Scott, and several more actors.  Look for things to cool down in 2012 for this film! Enjoy the teaser trailer below, so that you don’t have to go see Gulliver’s Travels just to watch it!

#3- “Remakes and Prequels Abound.” Well, in the world of Hollywood, if you can’t come up with anymore ideas for movies, the modus operandi is to remake old ones or make a prequel/sequel. Here’s a few more titles that are either officially in the making, or in discussions to be made.

  1. Total Recall (remake begins shooting in March2011)
  2. The Three Muskateers…..again (in 3D starring Milla Jovavich, Orlando Bloom, releases in 2013)
  3. A Prequel to Blade focusing just on the story of vampire villain Stephen Dorff’s character Deacon Frost
  4. Avatar 2 and 3 in the works
  5. Ghostbusters 3 is in discussions
  6. Aliens Prequel, Scott is working on it currently
  7. Fast Five (Fast and Furious #5 releases next year)
  8. and, I’m sure, many more to follow……(They need to do a Tron: Legacy sequel, a Serenity sequel, and a sequel to Unbreakable!)

#4 “Blu-ray release for Tuesday 12.28.10″ Well, Resident Evil: Afterlife released early on Sunday the 26th! I understand if you buy this one to complete your collection at home, but other than that…there is NO reason on earth to purchase this one. Click HERE for the review! The only other title that releases this Tuesday worth noting is The American, starring George Clooney. Click HERE for the review on this quite different (and rather disappointing) film.

Thanks for reading! Happy Watching!

    • I have a feeling so far that it won’t be true to the book. I hope so, but I have sincere doubts. The constant barrage of sequels, remakes, and prequels from Hollywood is a sore subject that I tend to visit frequently on this site……Originality, where have you flown off to? To the wind, perhaps. That’s why I say “hurrah!” to Inception, Black Swan, and others like.
