The Red Web Awards

POLLS CLOSED! Thanks for voting! See results HERE!

Welcome to this very special post today on TheScarletSp1der’s Movie Blog!! (any phrase in THIS color is a clickable link.)

As you may or may not be aware, the Golden Globe Awards are on Sunday, January 16th! (The Critics Choice Awards were yesterday, and the Academy Awards are coming up REAL soon!) But, honestly, I wasn’t very impressed with several of the nominations made for the Golden Globes! (i.e….The Tourist for Best Comedy/Musical, Angelina Jolie for Best Actress in a Comedy, etc!!) And, most of the nominations were from the last 3-6 months of the year only! What about taking the entire year into account? Some great movies came out between January and June 2010 too!

Anyways, Since the Golden Globes have not met up to my expectations, I decided to host my own “Golden Globe Awards” of sorts, in which you get to help participate and choose the winners. This prestigous award, entitled The RED WEB AWARD, gives homage to the dedication, cinematic success, inspiration, and amazement of the nominees.

I assembled a panel of judges to make nominations for 6 categories for The RED WEB AWARDS. Meet your judge panel:

3 movie bloggers (Castor@Anomalous Material, Ruth@Flixchatter, and TheScarletSp1der),

….and 3 continual readers/subscribers of my site (Kal-el, Meccadawn, and TheSilkSpectre).

All 6 of us nominated possible winners for 6 categories and we need your help to choose!

Below you will find 6 polls. 1 per category. Please…

  1. Think carefully about the performances of the nominees per category. You may only vote once per poll!
  2. Vote for 1 nominee per poll that you think should win The RED WEB AWARD in its respective category.
  3. After voting, please..***pass this along to a friend via facebook, twitter, stumbleupon, wordpress, blogspot, text message, snail mail, pony express, passenger pigeon, etc. (There are “share” links at the bottom of this post).
  4. Leave a comment, if you wish, spreading your own propagandish reasons as to why you think a certain nominee should win.
  5. Keep checking back, the polls will be open until Wednesday night. You can vote up until then. Results will post on Friday, January 21!
  6. Didn’t see your favorite on the list? Use the comment section to list your Honorable Mentions!

(In the actual Golden Globes there are over 20 categories. I had to narrow it down as best as I could. While some categories I would love to have included, the 6 below were my final choices.)

Are you ready? We need as many votes as possible! Behold, I give you your chance to vote for the recipients of  The RED WEB AWARDS!

Thanks for reading, voting, and sharing! The Awards Ceremony will post on Friday the 21st!

**quick note: The Critics Choice Awards were a LOT in line with my list of the top 25 movies I liked in 2010 at TheScarletSp1der’s Choice Awards! Not just the winners, but the nominees overall! Naturally! 😉 Click HERE to see the winners of the CCA’s.

  1. ah, I totally didn’t like the nominated people in ACTRESS category, DIRECTOR category and some others but I voted in some of them 🙂 This was generally a very bad year in film if you ask me, hope 2011 will bring us better dramatic films, better blockbusters and better performances instead of the mediocre ones.
PS love the award banner 🙂

    • Thank you for stopping in and attending the Red Web Awards! I appreciate your voting! I do hope that 2011 brings better movies! I will agree that there were several disappointments, just my picks differ from yours! 😉 Looking forward to your event tomorrow! thanks Dez!

    • Joel! Thank you for taking the time to visit and vote on my humble page! I appreciate it! I will be sure to visit the link you have included on The Social Network! Definitely a fav of mine. I have a post publishing in 4 mins that has my guesses on the GGs and The Social Network is one that I think will get a couple!

Thanks again for stopping by and commenting! Hope you visit TheScarletSp1der’s Web again!

  2. Sweet. Got my votes in there. I’m surprised Shutter Island’s performance got put in over Inception’s. He did an equally good job in both IMO.

    • Leo’s character in Inception was good…but there was more of a emotional connection to Shutter Island which seemed somewhat copied in Inception. Basically we’d seen Leo’s character before….in Shutter Island. That is how the judge who made the nomination explained it to me. And it makes sense. I agree.

      • I would definitely have to disagree. On the first layer I would say maybe, but there is a significant difference between the two once you dive deeper. Not to mention the goal and drive of both characters are in no way related. But that’s just my opinion 🙂

    • I JUST saw! I literally just walked in the door from church and turned on the rest of the golden globes! Seeing how many guesses I was wrong/right in! haha. Thanks a LOT for your participation, support, and a post solely dedicated to it! wow. More than i expected! Thanks SO much! (thanks for noticing the design too, took me a long time! ha) Couldn’t have made the Red Web Awards so great without you! Thanks again!

  3. This is very interesting 🙂
I voted on some categories, couldn’t vote on animated and best female because I haven’t seen those movies yet.

I will share this trough my twitter account. looking forward to see whose the winner

    • thank you very much for the votes you made! This project has been a LOT of fun! and thank you for sharing it on your twitter! That’s a very special honor and I do appreciate it! The more votes the better! Awards Ceremony will be on Friday!!!!

  4. Unfortunately i haven’t seen enough of the movies here to vote, although there are a lot of them here i want to see. So far, the only big 2010 movies i’ve seen is Inception, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, The Town, and the Social network. I am anxiously waiting for Black Swan to come out on dvd tho(I really, really want to see that movie)

    • haha. Unfortunately he didn’t make it. No. But his movie did!! 🙂 He wrote me, asking why he wasn’t nominated. I had to tell him that I hadn’t been able to see his movie yet. He apologized and is sending me a copy, overnight!….but the bribe wasn’t enough to buy him a nomination still. LOL
