“And, The Winner Is…” (Red Web Award Ceremony)

It’s finally here! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! The Prestigous RED WEB AWARD Ceremony!

The nominations were made (click HERE for the introduction/nomination post), the votes are in, the people have spoken! I had been watching the results over the past several days and some of the polls were very close throughout the voting, while others clearly named their winner almost from the start! You may very well be surprised at some of the winners. SO, without further ado, here are your winners of the 1st Annual RED WEB AWARDS!

  1. Best Motion Picture (Drama): INCEPTION
  2. Best Motion Picture (Comedy): GROWN UPS
  3. Best Motion Picture (Animated Feature): HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
  4. Best Performance by Any Actor: JESSE EISENBERG, The Social Network
  5. Best Performance by Any Actress: NATALIE PORTMAN, Black Swan
  6. Best Director of a Motion Picture: CHRISTOPHER NOLAN, Inception

Upon the announcements being made, a fun series of events took place all at once! The makers of Inception kept pinching themselves to wake up (they believed it was still a dream) while The Grown Ups celebrated by getting chocolate wasted! Hiccup and Toothless grabbed their award and flew out as fast as they could, while Jesse Eisenberg sat around and updated his facebook status to share the news. Natalie Portman nervously giggled (like THIS! -you HAVE to watch the clip!! 🙂 ) and danced circles around Christopher Nolan who sat there watching and waiting for his spinning top to topple over before he could begin to celebrate! 😉

Some weren’t as delighted about the news, such as Christian Bale, who remained in utter disbelief

….and Anne Hathaway, who resorted to becoming an unending river of tears over receiving no votes! The Owls didn’t give a hoot and 127Hours said it didn’t mind waiting longer! 🙂

Both Bale and Hathaway declined to comment when I asked them for their thoughts!

..Oh Well!

Congratulations to all of the winners! Thank you to all of you who participated. Those who voted, shared it on their sites, talked about it with other friends, commented, or just stopped by to take a peek: THANK YOU! It is you who made this event so much FUN and I truly appreciate it!

Stay tuned for more fun events, reviews, trailers, articles, and movie news each and every week! Thanks for reading! Happy Watching!

  1. this was fun sp1der. I do have a question though… how do our results differ from the actual results? Sorry I have not followed who actually won what since the awards. =)

  2. Awesome, T! That was fun, we should do this again next year, hopefully I’d already seen all the movies that were nominated 😀 Glad for Nolan, I hope Inception makes it to Oscar’s Best Picture noms. Too bad there wasn’t a category for Best Supporting performances as I’d have voted for Bale in a heart beat.

    • Thank you! We had a LOT of fun with this! Already looking forward to next year! Perhaps we will just have to include supporting actors/actresses then too!

Appreciate your input and, WOW! What a post you put on your site for it! Thanks for making it a great and fun success!!!

    • Thanks for your help Castor! Appreciate you showing some love this way! I was surprised by some of the outcomes. I actually thought Scott Pilgrim would win, as it had the lead most of the time. And The Social Network lost…..haha

  3. So every movie I wanted to win, did…except actor and actress. dicaprio was very well done in shutter island and I really think every one over looked emma stone (she will be one to watch) also I really want to see the scott win, it was very funny. and yes, I would say better than grown ups but that is not to say I did not like it. it was very tuff to pick this year. I thought it was a great way to end the decade with so many movies that were great. it was really tuff and am sure every one else on the board would say the same thing. to the board of judges doing this I have a question to ask you, if you read this, what where your top 10 movies?

    • Meccadawn, My friend! thanks for being part of the panel of judges! Glad to have you participate! It made it so much fun going back and forth with you over who should be nominated! This was a great awards ceremony and I am excited for next year’s Red Web Awards!! My top ten movies of 2010?? I’ll have to get back to you on that one! I know that Ruth and Castor have a few listed on their own sites. I wonder what Kal-el and TheSilkSpectre will reply!

    • Social Network
      How to Train Your Dragon
      Book of Eli
      Toy Story 3
      Despicable Me
      Iron Man 2
      The Town
      Grown Ups

It’s way easier for me to make a “NOT top 10” list since I’ve seen way more bad movies this year than good ones. Unfortunately I ‘haven’t seen King’s Speech, Black Swan, True Grit, or the Fighter so though I’ve heard great things about them, they can’t make my list.

    • Anna! Welcome to TheScarletSp1der’s “Web” and thanks for stopping by!

The Red Web Awards were so much fun this year. Perhaps next year Bale will smile in his pic instead of looking so unamused! 😀 I wasn’t surprised when he made himself “unavailable” for comment! haha 🙂

  4. Sorry it’s taken me awhile to comment, it’s been a very busy week of partying. Me and the cast of Grown Ups took Jesse Eisenberg out and spent the entire week since the awards getting chocolate wasted. Jesse Eisenberg wanted to play our “game”… you know the one… so we did that yesterday… Christian Bale won. Problem is he wasn’t playing. Jesse just said “oh well, you don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.” We’ve been running from Bale ever since. He keeps trying to show us a magic trick that Ledger taught him before he died.
