My Cinematic Alphabet

Last week over at Flixchatter, my friend Ruth posted her Cinematic Alphabet! I really enjoyed her post and decided to create my own alphabet. Enjoy!

It’s a simple concept, just attach a movie I like to every single letter in the alphabet. So here we go:

A is for Air Force One

B is for Big

C is for (The) Count of Monte Cristo

D is for (The) Dark Knight

E is for Elf

F is for Fight Club

G is for Gladiator

H is for Hook

I is for (The) Italian Job

J is for Just Go With It

K is for K-Pax

L is for Lady in the Water

M is for Man on Fire

N is for National Treasure

O is for Ocean’s Eleven

P is for (The) Prestige

Q is for (The) Quiet Man

R is for Remember the Titans

S is for Shawshank Redemption

T is for Transformers

U is for Underworld

V for Vendetta

W is for Wizard of Oz

X is for X-men

Y is for Yankee Doodle Dandy

Z is for Zoolander

“Now I know my ABC’s! Next time won’t you…blah, blah, blah!” 🙂 How many of this list have you seen, or are your favs? Create your own list and share it in the comment section.

Thanks for reading! Happy watching!

up next: “Trailer Time Thursday!”

  1. Yay, another fun Cine Alphabet! Glad you enjoyed my list T, and you’ve got some great ones here. YAY for Monte Cristo, it was a contender for me as well. You’ve got the other Nolan’s Batman flick I see, and you share my love for V and X-Men. Zoolander is a hoot, love that pout 😀

  2. Very cool idea! Hmm, I think I’ll try this.

    Boondock Saints
    Empire Strikes Back
    Full Metal Jacket
    Gran Torino
    Howl’s Moving Castle
    Inglourious Basterds
    Kill Bill Volume 1.
    My Neighbor Totoro
    Return of the Jedi
    Twelve Monkeys

    • Hey Stephany! Thanks for visiting! and THANKS for listing your own! You’ve got some great choices. I almost picked Alien, Full Metal Jacket, Empire Strikes Back, and Serenity! All of them were in the “batter’s box”! Thanks for participating!

  3. It seems me, you and Ruth all have similar picks 😛 You have some good picks there i hadn’t used, like Oceans Eleven(I thought about using that one, but i don’t remember that one too well, and i didn’t want to put movies in my list that i couldn’t remember strongly)

The inclusion of Transformers seems odd to me(It was a okay movie, but i feel like there are so many better choices for T)

    But still a cool list

  4. Akira
    Brother Hood of the Wolf
    Color Purple
    Dr. Strangelove
    Ferris Buellers Day Off
    Hunt for Red October
    Ip Man
    Knocked Up
    Little Monsters
    Malcom X
    Nightmare on Elmstreet (original)
Once upon a time in America
    Passion of the Christ
    Quantum of Solace
    Royal Tenembaums
    Shindler’s List
    Training Day
    Vanilla Sky
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
    You only live twice

    • A fun list! Thanks for making it! Ah, I was hoping you’d put Ip Man. Julian over at dirtywithclass made sure it made the list too! Some great choices on this list: Godfather, Schindler’s List, Hunt for Red October!!! NICE!

Did you know about the live action Akira movie project? It’s been under the radar over the past few months, but you can read about it here.

Thanks again for your fun list!!

    • haha! while being an action junkie isn’t a bad thing 🙂 ….I don’t know that I would categorize myself as one! Yes, I love action, but only about 9 or 10 of my alphabet would truly be considered action! But, who doesn’t love seeing a good action sequence on the big screen? Stuff you can’t see in real life too often. You can always see people kissing in parks or holding hands in a store or trial cases on the next episode of Judge Judy! But you can’t see cars flipping in the air, or bank robberies, or gun fights, or war scenes, or superheroes webslinging by everyday in real life! 😉 Action is what movies are made for!!!

      • I count 12 action in your list.

I so agree with you! Although you hardly can see people kissing in the park in my country (we are still not as ‘free’ as westerners),but i got your point. Romance can be seen everywhere… but action and horror, in my case, can’t be seen so easy. It would be cool if we can see someone dodge a bullet like Neo 😉

  5. Loved the Prestige! Glad to see it on the list. Some really interesting choices such Air Force One (always fun to revisit once or twice a year) and Transformers which is getting a bad rap because of how terrible the second one was.

    • That’s actually part of the reason it’s on my list. so many people overlook the first transformers because of the monstrosity the second one was. but I loved the first one, the “re-introduction” of Optimus and crew! Fantastically done. IMO

      Thanks for the comment!
