Today, Tajuana from TajGreeneMovieInReviews shares her review of Captain America and her thoughts/expectations of the hero in The Avengers! Thank you, Tajuana.
Well I can at least say that this film was alot better than I thought it would have been. Critics have been giving it exceptionally high marks. I mean it was good, but I wouldn’t rate it a four star film. (Note from T: I did! 🙂 haha! I actually gave it 4.5 stars! Check out my review HERE if you wish!) Captain America has to be the dullest Avenger out of them all in my opinion…don’t get mad at me, just my opinion. However, the movie wasn’t as dull as I think Captain America is…thank goodness.
Although I find Chris Evans to be a nice fit as Captain America I did find his voice to be super annoying as the emaciated Steve Rogers. Evans voice was way too deep, and it just made his character as Steve Rogers sound unbalanced. As far as the movie itself is concerned, the story was just ok. If it weren’t for the great acting skills of Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, and Hayley Atwell, this movie would have been alot worse. There were a lot of fist fights and gun battles, and not enough super hero stuff going on. I come to the movies to see my Marvel heroes be Extraordinary, not Ordinary…unfortunately Captain America is ordinarily borderline.
When it comes to the Avengers, you can’t take away the fact that Captain America is The First Avenger. He may not be the most interesting, or the best when it comes to abilities…but he is The First, and that stands for something. He is the start of the super human/hero movement. This alone makes him an important piece to the Avengers.
I can’t say I have high expectations for Captain America in The Avengers Movie. Although I think Chris Evans is great, he doesn’t have the presence of chops to outshine Downey or Hemsworth. I am hoping to see Captain America do more, and become The Avengers leader, but I honestly think his abilities will get outshined by Iron Man and Thor. Again, Captain America is the dullest Avenger. He has genuine compassion, selfless heart, an awesome shield, and a mean right hook, and for some reason this is not enough for me.
I want to see more…more of Captain America’s strengths, and less of Chris Evans prosthetic feet…Im just sayin.
My overall hopes for The Avengers may be a bit higher than I think this film will actually satisfy. The trailer looks great, but quite honestly, the story makes no sense to me. I’m praying that it was edited that way purposely to create an element of surprise. I’m very interested to see how all the characters mesh together. I must say that I am a little disappointed that Edward Norton did not reprise his role as The Hulk in this film. I hope Mark Ruffalo knows he has big shoes to fill. Although I am hoping to be amazed, I get the feeling like this may be a blockbuster disappointment…lol. -Tajuana
