“Trailer Time Thursday!” 5.3.12

Taking a quick detour during Avengers Week, here is your regular segmented dose of “Trailer Time Thursday!”

Today is THURSDAY!!! And you know what that means!! 🙂 It is officially time for another fun-filled edition of “Trailer Time Thursday!”

Finally, your weekly fix of “Triple-T” (aka: “Trailer Time Thursday!”) has arrived!!

In case this is your first visit to “Triple-T,”here’s what it’s all about:

Seeing as how everyone loves movie previews, “Trailer Time Thursday!” was created to bring all of the trending trailers that you may have missed in theaters, or just need to see, all in one convenient place! It makes Thursdays so great! Get ready! Your Preview Pandemonium awaits!

ENJOY!!! :)

The Expendables 2 (trailer#2). The 2nd trailer for The Expendables 2 is highly explosive and is here! Stallone and just about every other action hero from the 80’s and since are here! Check it out!

Prometheus (international trailer). This 3-minute trailer for what looks to be one the greatest sci-fi films in a while shows more footage in this borderline spoileristic presentation and tease of what is to come. Ridley Scott’s Prometheus stars Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, and more and releases soon. Get ready. Prometheus lands in a theater near you on June 8.

This is 40. The upcoming “sort of” sequel to Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up, Paul Rudd and crew reprise their roles in this follow up story in which we get a look at the lives of Pete and Debbie some years later. Look for the sequel this upcoming Christmas holiday season.

Beasts of the Southern Wild. Winner of the Cinematography Award and the Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Festival, this one definitely has my attention as well. You should give this trailer a watch. I won’t even describe it…just press “play.” It is set to release June 27, 2012.

The Perfect Family. Kathleen Turner and Emily Deschanel (along with others) help tell the story of a highly devout Catholic woman who is nominated for a “perfect mother” of sorts award and seeks to fulfill a delusion that her entire family is perfect…ignoring or refusing to accept their faults.

Snow White & the Huntsman (theatrical trailer). This theatrical trailer shows more footage and does nothing more than get me even more excited to watch this rendition of the tale of Snow White. Be sure to not miss it on June 1, 2012.

The Dark Knight Rises (trailer#3). As if this needs any introduction. If you haven’t seen this already, enjoy the most recent trailer for the most anticipated DC Comics film yet. The legend continues on July 20, 2012.

This Week’s “Special Trailer Spotlight”:

Richard Roeper reviews The Avengers

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a special preview screening of The Avengers on Tuesday. And, let me say, I am super excited to see it again tonite. My review for Marvel’s The Avengers will post here as part of Avengers Week on tomorrow! But, in the meantime, since this is Avengers Week, today I share a video of Richard Roeper as he tells us his thoughts about The Avengers (most of which mirror a lot of my own). Spoiler-free: watch his video review of the biggest Marvel movie ever! Get ready, and ASSEMBLE!

Well, that’s it for this round of ‘Triple-T’!

My favorite trailers from today: The Dark Knight Rises, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Prometheus. Which ones are your favorites??

Are you ready for the weekend in theaters? Here’s what releases this weekend, May 4, 2012:

Thanks for reading! Happy Watching!

T, The Focused Filmographer

up next: AVENGERS WEEK continues with Tajuana’s review of Captain America and thoughts/expectations of the character in The Avengers!

  1. Yeah, The Dark Knight Rises trailer is awesome. Manages to leave so much intrigue while telling you enough to get excited. Also Hunstmen is looking good and in the short amount of time she appeared in Kristen seems to have more fire in her performance than in Twilight. haven’t watched the Prometheus trailer, seems to spoilery to me

  2. Hi, Terrence and company:

I got a kick out of Stallone trying to channel Robert Mitchum’s lazy delivery prior to ‘The Expendables: 2’ trailer. Looks like there’s a whole lot more meat on the bone, story and action wise.

‘Prometheus’ looks like just what the doctor ordered. A decent, nail biting, action/suspense
back story that the ‘Alien’ franchise has always needed!

I’ll pass on ‘The Perfect Family’. Never been a fan of the decades long trend in Hollywood of making fun of or ridiculing religion or personal beliefs under the guise of comedy.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ looks great. Even with the downside of Anne Hathaway and the film’s ‘Eat The Rich!’, ‘99%’ tone. I’ll see it for Bale, Tom Hardy’s ‘Bane’ and Joseph Gordon Levitt.

  3. “My shoe is bigger than this car” I think I’m going to love Expendables 2.

The Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus steal the trailer show here. Both are doing such a good job of showing us a heck of a lot and yet not.
