“Trailer Time Thursday!” (August Preview)

July 19, 2012

Today is THURSDAY!!! And you know what that means!! 🙂 It is officially time for another fun-filled edition of “Trailer Time Thursday!”

Finally, your weekly fix of “Triple-T” (aka: “Trailer Time Thursday!”) has arrived!!

In case this is your first visit to “Triple-T,”here’s what it’s all about:

Seeing as how everyone loves movie previews, “Trailer Time Thursday!” was created to bring all of the trending trailers that you may have missed in theaters, or just need to see, all in one convenient place! It makes Thursdays so great! Get ready! Your Preview Pandemonium awaits!

Well, this week, little-to-no new exciting trailers released! What’s a guy to do?! So, today I present to you some trailers for movies releasing this August. With G.I. Joe: Retaliation no longer in the mix, here is a look at 6 of the movies that should be on your radar in the final lingering weeks of summer.

Total Recall.

Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, and more star in this futuristic remake where reality and memory is all brought into question. This scifi adventure hits the big screen on August 3.

The Bourne Legacy.

Again, this does not star Matt Damon. But, to be clear, Jeremy Renner is NOT starring as Jason Bourne either! The events in this movie take place during the events of the previous Bourne films and add the same look, feel, and action/excitement. Get ready for the legacy to begin on August 10.

The Campaign.

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis go head to head in this political comedy of two opposing men on the ballot for political office. The campaign for office takes several comedic twists and turns and looks to be nothing short of a hilarious riot! Place your vote for who will win between the two on August 10.

The Expendables 2.

I just love the assembled cast for this film. All of the action stars I grew up watching in one film. Even Chuck Norris is here. Man, this one will be non-stop explosion after explosion as brawn beats the brains out of bad guys! Get ready for the action flick of action flicks when August 17th rolls around.

Premium Rush.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in this highspeed pedal-to-the-metal film focusing on a bike messenger in NYC who carries a package that has greater importance than he ever bargained for…and other ruthless people want to take it from him. What a rush! Don’t blink, or you may miss this one on August 24th.

Lawless.

Yes, Shia LaBeouf is in other movies besides Transformers! Co-starring with Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska (Hooray, I spelled her name correctly without looking it up!), and more, this film tells the tale of a bootlegging set of brothers who are threatened by local law enforcement who attempt to muscle their way in onto their profits. Bullets, bottles, and bodies will fly in this lawless flick that opens on August 29th.

Other AUGUST releases:

  • 8/3—Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, Celeste and Jesse Forever, 360, and The Babymakers
  • 8/10—Hope Springs, 2 Days in New York, and Red Hook Summer
  • 8/17—Sparkle, Cosmopolis, ParaNorman, Compliance, and The Odd Life of Timothy Green
  • 8/24—The Apparition, Hit and Run, Robot and Frank, and Samsara
  • 8/31—The Possession and For a Good Time, Call…

Well, that’s it for this round of ‘Triple-T’! Tell me, which August release(s) are you looking forward to most?

Before August releases, don’t forget (how COULD you?) that this weekend, The Dark Knight Rises releases into theaters! Be sure you go and check it out! Are you ready for the epic conclusion? See you at the theaters!!

Thanks for reading! Happy Watching!

Y’know, the summer movie season will peak tomorrow with the release of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. That said, they are some fun flicks for August that I’m looking forward to. ‘Bourne Legacy’, ‘Total Recall’, and even the ‘Expendables 2’. That last one mostly to see the 80s action heroes in, well… action (and the hope somebody will kick Chuck Norris butt onscreen ;-)). Thanks, T.

You’re right, the season will peak, but August will still have a few flicks to enjoy.

Do you think Norris will get beat up? nahh, they can’t do that the the Texas Ranger! haha

Loads to look forward to in August. Though, I think as per usual, it’s not the big hitters. Well, apart from Brave for the UK which is out the same day as The Expendables 2.

Total Recall looks ok, and look … more Bryan Cranston! Bourne Legacy’s grown on me too.

August will be a nice reprieve after the summer full of blockbusters. I will be a nice transition to all of the Oscar bait (as scott called it.) hah

Looking forward to Total Recall in August, even if it’s just for bombastic fun! 🙂

I think it will just be bombastic. I am interested in seeing it, but don’t hold too much hope for it.

I am probably the only one who is bored of the blockbuster now…. I want the Oscar Bait to begin.

TDKR seen? Check…. let us get to some heavy stuff!
