Today is Tuesday! and if you’ve been coming here for any length of time, you know that, for most people Tuesday is just the day after Monday, but for you it means that “Time to Vote Tuesday” is here!! YES!!!
What is “Time to Vote Tuesday”?:
“Time to Vote Tuesday” is the session of fun weekly polls which spark thought, debate, and intrigue! Each poll closes in a week with results posted on the following ‘TVT’!
Last week’s poll, “Gotta-Go Genre“ has now closed with 50 votes. The results are in and the genre most-rejected by voters this time around was the one of footage of the “found” persuasion! Interestingly enough, no one voted to get rid of superhero movies at all (although, I know a few people who don’t like them…smh)! A lot of fun reading all of the comments. 🙂 Thanks to all that voted. Be sure to check out the results from last week’s polls HERE.
I wish to thank everyone that voted in last week’s poll, shared it with others, and added to the conversation with your comments!
In this edition of ‘TVT’ this week’s poll, entitled “Fun in ’81”, takes a look at 1981’s filmography.
Just last week, Ian The Cool asked several bloggers to contribute to a post that looked at “Film Through The Ages.” Nine decades were chosen with the years ending in 1: ’31, ’41, ’51, etc (you get the picture)…all the way up to 2011. The assignment was to pick ONE film of the year given and highlight it for the collaborative post. I was given the year 1981!
Some fun films came out in the year of Tom Cruise’s acting debut: Arthur, On Golden Pond, Superman II, Stripes, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Time Bandits, Clash of the Titans, For Your Eyes Only, Excalibur, An American Werewolf in London, Das Boot, Chariots of Fire, Escape from New York, Reds…(just to name a FEW). haha.
Feel free to watch this ’81 film video tribute that lists several others if you wish (Sadly, it’s not playing a rock song from 1981 though.):
(Coincidentally, that year also introduced The Focused Filmographer into the world!) 😀
The post was a lot of fun and it really was neat to see the progression of film through the lens of others at 1 decade at a time. Please be sure to visit and see which film I picked for 1981, along with the films chosen for each of the additional decades. (You can visit HERE, in case you missed the link above).
Vote and leave a comment defending/declaring your choices!
The poll closes on 9-11-12 and the results will post on next week’s “Time to Vote Tuesday!”
Thanks for reading! Happy Watching!
–T, The Focused Filmographer
