It’s “Time to Vote Tuesday!” 127

Today is Tuesday! and if you’ve been coming here for any length of time, you know that, for most people Tuesday is just the day after Monday, but for you it means that “Time to Vote Tuesday” is here!! YES!!!

What is “Time to Vote Tuesday”?:

“Time to Vote Tuesday” is the session of fun weekly polls which spark thought, debate, and intrigue! Each poll closes in a week with results posted on the following ‘TVT’!

Last week’s poll entitled Smile-causing Shopping Scenes has now closed with a total of 42 votes. The results are in and the top shopping scene in a movie as chosen by you, the voters, is the one in Home Alone. While I personally enjoy the shopping scene in Jingle All the Way a bit more, the results were fun to look at and see. Thank you to all those who voted as last week as we looked at the shopping craze that is Black Friday! Be sure to check out the results in from last week’s poll HERE.

I wish to thank everyone that voted in last week’s polls, shared it with others, and added to the conversation with your comments!

In this edition of ‘TVT’ this week’s poll, entitled “What the Dickens?”, we take a look at a proposed remake to a Holiday classic: A Christmas Carol.

Before you either get excited or upset about the idea of yet another remake of the Charles Dickens’ holiday favorite, know that I am not aware of any such project currently in the works. BUT! What if, just what IF there was going to be another remake? Who would you like to see in the familiar roles of Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and more?

A while back we did a similar “recasting” post of The Wizard of Oz (see HERE), which was very fun. Today I have put together 5 possibilities for a recasting of A Christmas Carol. Take your time and choose carefully and let me know in the comments which cast/crew you chose and why! (also be sure to let me know which version of the story on film is your favorite to date!)

The choices are mixed and not as easy as you may think! 😀

The order of the roles in each crew are as follows:

  • Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Christmas Present, Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come (maybe this time the “future” ghost might talk a little), Jacob Marley and Belle (Scrooge’s former girlfriend)

-Ian McKellen (Ebenezer Scrooge), Dennis Quaid (Bob Cratchit), Max Records from Where the Wild Things Are (Tiny Tim), Lily Collins (G.O.C. Past), John Goodman (G.O.C. Present), Craig T. Nelson (G.O.C. Yet to Come), Dustin Hoffman (Jacob Marley), Mia Wasikowska (Belle)

-Jeremy Irons (Ebenezer Scrooge), George Clooney (Bob Cratchit), Asa Butterfield (Tiny Tim), Helen Mirren (G.O.C. Past), Robin Williams (G.O.C. Present), Ian McShane (G.O.C. Yet to Come), Mark Hamill (Jacob Marley), Mila Kunis (Belle)

-Jon Voight (Ebenezer Scrooge), Jeff Bridges (Bob Cratchit), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Tiny Tim), Judi Dench (G.O.C. Past), Steve Carell (G.O.C. Present), Ed Harris (G.O.C. Yet to Come), Patrick Stewart (Jacob Marley), Rachel McAdams (Belle)

-Christopher Plummer (Ebenezer Scrooge), Russell Crowe (Bob Cratchit), Ryan Lee from Super 8 (Tiny Tim), Elle Fanning (G.O.C. Past), Melissa McCarthy (G.O.C. Present), Johnny Depp (G.O.C. Yet to Come), Malcolm McDowell (Jacob Marley), Maggie Grace (Belle)

-Chris Lee (Ebenezer Scrooge), Harrison Ford (Bob Cratchit), Dakota Goyo from Real Steel (Tiny Tim), Ellen Page (G.O.C. Past), Will Ferrell (G.O.C. Present), Samuel L. Jackson (G.O.C. Yet to Come), Bill Murray (Jacob Marley), Jessica Biel (Belle)

Today I ask you:

Thanks for voting! Are you ready for Christmas? Share the poll with others as we attempt to recast this Christmas tale. Does Melissa McCarthy as the Ghost of Christmas Present in Crew4 win your vote over Jeremy Irons as Ebenezer Scrooge in Crew2? Do you like the idea of Samuel L. Jackson as G.O.C. Yet to Come over the idea of Dennis Quaid as Bob Cratchit? Have fun with this poll and vote before it closes on 12-4-12. The results will post on next week’s “Time to Vote Tuesday!”

Thanks for reading! Happy Watching!

  1. Wow, Terrence!

Excellent and diverse casts all the way around!

Since ‘A Christmas Carol’ is basically a stage play brought to life on film. I’d go with
Crew# 3. Front and back loaded with proven stage talent.

Though Crew# 5 is the most recognizable. I’ll stick with grounded players.

Take a look at YouTube or HuLu for Patrick Stewart’s reading of ‘A Christmas Carol’.
PBS had it on annually from Lincoln Center in the early 1990s. More than worth the effort of seeking out!
