“Trailer Time Thursday!” 2.21.13

February 21, 2013

Today is THURSDAY!!! And you know what that means!! 🙂 It is officially time for another fun-filled edition of “Trailer Time Thursday!”

Here is your weekly fix of “Triple-T” (aka: “Trailer Time Thursday!”)!!Triple-T

In case this is your first visit to “Triple-T,” here’s what it’s all about:

Seeing as how everyone loves movie previews, “Trailer Time Thursday!” was created to bring all of the trending trailers that you may have missed in theaters, or just need to see, all in one convenient place! It makes Thursdays so great! Get ready! Your Preview Pandemonium awaits!

Check them out and ENJOY!!! :)

Trailers:

Gallowwalkers. Look out! It’s BLADE from the 19th century! Wesley Snipes tracks down and kills the dead/undead with revolvers, axes, rifles and more…and he does it well. Only, once a curse is enacted he needs help to destroy the undead who keep “reviving” and seeking vengeance. Zombies, guns, Wesley Snipes…a recipe for perfection, right?…Right? I expect this fantasy western horror to make it straight to dvd sometime this year. (Glad Snipes is getting work, but come on man! Expendables 3 is supposed to be your post-prison comeback…not this.)

The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber and more star in this story of a young Pakistani man living in America and pursuing his dream and love for the United States, but is forced to choose and decide between his dream, his homeland, and his own personal beliefs when a post-9/11 world accuses and questions him at every turn. A moving trailer with a high amount of reality. This one receives a limited release on April 26.

Stoker (character featurette). See more about this upcoming psychological thriller that stars Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Jacki Weaver. Here is the synopsis:

After India’s (Wasikowska’s) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Look for it on in limited release on March 1, 2013.

The Host (trailer#3). Here is the 3rd trailer for the upcoming scifi romance thriller from the mind of Stephenie Meyer (The Twilight Saga). In a near future, parasitic aliens thrive on planet earth through possessing the bodies of humanity who then play host to the invading aliens. Things get complicated when an “infested” human bonds with her alien host and they fight to preserve humanity together with other “free” humans…one of which is her love interest. Theaters hope to be your host for this film on March 29.

The Silence. This trailer is about as silent (and creepy) as its title and the victims of the film itself. An adaptation of German novelist Jan Costin Wagner’s 2007 work, The Silence focuses on the events surrounding a murder of a girl that copies exactly the murder of another girl 23 years prior. The thriller has already released in Germany and may just cause American audiences to break their silence in the near future.

The Call (trailer#2). Halle Berry stars as a 911 operator who takes the call of a kidnapped girl. She goes beyond the call of duty to prevent this girl from being killed and is even more motivated because of a similar previous call that ended badly (also starring Abigail Breslin). Between this trailer and the 1st trailer (here), you now know pretty much EVERYTHING that happens in this film and don’t need to waste your money. But, in case you are a glutton for punishment, know that you can answer The Call in theaters on March 15.

Spotlight Video of the Week:

Featurette for Upside Downupsidedown

You may remember my review of this film that is captivating both visually and emotionally. Twisting scifi with romance, Upside Down is a film that I enjoyed immensely (see my review for it HERE and my trailer spotlight for it HERE). Enjoy this featurette for the film. Perhaps it will convince you to give it a shot if you are not sold on it yet, and if you are already excited to see it, this one will give you more reason to.

Look for it on March 15, 2013.

Well, that’s it for this round of ‘Triple-T’!

My favorite trailers from today: The Reluctant Fundamentalist, The Host, and the featurette for Upside Down. Which ones are your favorites??

The Reluctant Fundamentalist is the most interesting of this week’s trailers. Sadly, some of the others look like real bores.

I found it to be quite interesting too. And I’m glad to see Kiefer Sutherland on screen. This one looks to press some of the right buttons.
