New Posters of the Week (4/12/13)

April 12, 2013

Happy Friday! It is time, once again, to check out all of the…

As you know I love checking out and collecting movie posters! With teases of what to expect from the featured film, posters are one of my favorite parts of the whole cinematic experience. If you love movie posters like I do, then you are likely to enjoy the latest ones of the week!

Today, Bubbawheat from Flights, Tights and Movie Nights joins me once again and together we share our thoughts and opinions on this week’s posters. [Be sure to visit his fun site full of expertise on comic and superhero movies (HERE)]. Not too many new feature posters released this week, but there were plenty of new “character” posters.

Take a look: (To view the fullscreen slideshow, click on any one of the posters below and scroll through with the arrow keys.)

In addition to these, here are some new character posters for The Lone Ranger

And a new set of posters for The Hangover Part III

Thoughts:

TheFocusedFilmographer– This week, while the feature posters are few in number they are the ones I like the most. Elysium is neat because the focus is on his backbone…as if he is the backbone of the rebellion. The Star Trek Into Darkness one is better without the cropped in images of Kirk and crew in the background like in the last poster HERE.   (both of them are much better actually!) Much Ado About Nothing is great, but my favorite this week goes to The Great Gatsby with Tobey Maguire on the dance floor. And, as much as the Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters trailer makes me want to avoid the movie…I like this poster…perhaps because it lacks any of the characters altogether.

Bubbawheat– Oh man, I hadn’t seen the Percy Jackson trailer yet, I really like the poster and realized it’s sneaking up on me. I totally agree with you on the Great Gatsby poster, it’s so colorful and a unique angle, and it’s just a lot more fun than any of the previous Gatsby posters. I also really liked the look of Antiviral, but only in the small, when I look closer I really don’t like the look of the guy with the thermometer in his mouth.  Filth is a fun little poster too. On the other side, The Bling Ring isn’t helping differentiate itself from Spring Breakers with this poster which reminds me a little bit of the great Spring Breakers poster with all the travel supplies laid out on the sheet. And while I like the pose on Wolverine, I hate the color choices. But overall it’s a nice artistic batch this week.

Well, what do YOU think? Which ones are your favorites in this spotlight? Which ones do you like/hate and why? Leave a comment! 🙂

The Elysium poster is intriguing. Really makes you wonder what kind of world it’s in. I agree about the colorfulness of the Gatsby poster and the blandness of The Bling Ring. The poster for The Moment isn’t anything special, but is still kind of interesting somehow.

On the Star Trek ones, I greatly prefer the one showing the Enterprise crashing. That’s a great image.

I think the ones for the new Hangover film are terrible. My favourite is the one for Filth!

haha. Filth’s poster is interesting in the ladder lines of cocaine. the idea of climbing out of it, yet still clinging on is told through the poster. (and I agree on the Hangover ones). Thanks for commenting

    Hi, all:

The Enterprise sure does get destroyed a lot, doesn’t it?

you know, good point. It sure does. Perhaps it should be painted red…or least be in the form of a red shirt uniform. haha
