Happy Friday! It is time, once again, to check out all of the…
As you know I love checking out and collecting movie posters! With teases of what to expect from the featured film, posters are one of my favorite parts of the whole cinematic experience. If you love movie posters like I do, then you are likely to enjoy the latest ones of the week!
My friend, Bubbawheat from Flights, Tights and Movie Nights and I both love movie posters and the attention to detail (or lack thereof) that goes into the creation of these silent movie promoters. [Be sure to visit his fun site full of expertise on comic and superhero movies (HERE)]. Together we share our thoughts and opinions on this week’s posters.

Thoughts:
TheFocusedFilmographer– This week, there are several misfires in my opinion, such as The East, Violet & Daisy, etc, and let’s not even talk about the ludicrous 90’s vhs cover looking poster for Red Wing. But, I like the Iron Man 3 IMAX poster. The comic artist, JOCK, also created several other fantastic designs for the poster that are pretty impressive. You can see them all HERE. The Carrie poster is grabbing, but we’ve seen that pose too many times and I’d like to see something different. My favorites this week are Pacific Rim (Yes, even with the cheesy tagline at the bottom) and Black Rock.
Bubbawheat– I love Black Rock as well, it’s kind of a weird cross between Jaws and Friday the 13th visually, though the tagline doesn’t sound like a horror movie at all. And that is an amazing Iron Man 3 poster. I think you’re being a little hard on Violet & Daisy though I do think it reminds me of a poster I saw here several weeks ago that I can’t quite put my finger on. (Note from T: possibly this one??) There are a lot of misses, I’m not fond of the word placement on Rush, and The Way Way Back does not seem like an image that evokes “comedy” like it says on the tagline. And while I do think Chloe Grace Moretz looks great in that poster, it is an iconic pose that’s hard to live up to.

up next: My review of Pain & Gain
Black Rock has a good poster; nice retro design there. And I like the Iron Man 3 poster as well. Red 2 also works, I think.
I agree the word placement on Rush seems wrong; still curious about the film though. And in the case of The Way Way Back, the non-comedy-style poster combined with the tagline saying it’s a comedy is actually what has me curious about it.

The Way Way Back was one of my least fave posters here. Thanks for checking out the posters, Morgan!

I think that probably is the one. It’s not exactly the same but has a slightly similar feel and color scheme.
