Normally, here in New Mexico, the sun seems to always be shining. There is, however, a portion of the year that local residents love to refer to as the “monsoon season” in which the clouds tend to open up and pour torrential rain upon the desert. It is always a welcome interruption of the usual high temperatures and water restrictions in the drought-dried desert (with the exception of the added humidity and mosquitoes).
Our “monsoon season” usually begins with a tease on the Fourth of July (it ALWAYS precipitates on that day) and continues for about a month back and forth. This year has been no exception as the past two weeks in particular have been full of downpour. Only 1 day in the past 8 days has passed without rain. (I will actually have to mow my lawn soon).
So, imagine my delight when it comes to the timing of receiving an award called “The Sunshine Award!”
My friend, the amazing Ruth at Flixchatter.net, deservedly received this award and took the time to honor me with the same. I thank her and gladly accept this thoughtfully “warm” award!
The Sunshine Award is presented to “bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.” One of the rules of this award… [with powers, comes responsibility as it were], is that I have to answer these 10 questions about myself, so here goes!
Include the award’s logo in a post or on your blog.
- Link to the person who nominated you.
- Answer 10 questions about yourself
(use these or come up with your own).
- Nominate 10 bloggers.
- Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs,
letting them know they have been nominated.
1. Favorite Actor?
[who’s not a “household name” yet]
Often playing supporting roles in big films, Hounsou went from being born in West Africa, to moving to Paris where he was homeless and eating out of garbage dumpsters, to being discovered to model for a photographer and then finally making a big break in the 1997 Steven Spielberg film Amistad. This 2-time Oscar-nominated actor starred also in Gladiator, The Island, Blood Diamond and many more films and I look forward to “hearing” him in How to Train Your Dragon 2 and seeing him in Guardians of the Galaxy as Korath the Pursuer.
2. Favorite Food?
And I’m going to cheat here a little bit and also add a favorite dessert! (I do have a sweet tooth afterall!) My favorite dessert is Peach Cobbler a la mode (w/vanilla bean ice cream).
3. Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink?
Bit of trivia here for you: I don’t consume alcoholic drinks (never have), so this is a question right up my alley. And, my favorite drink is a (ready for this, Starbucks-lovers?) Starbucks’ Hot Venti Upside-Down Caramel Macchiato!
Why “upside-down” you ask? Allow me to explain:
A Caramel Macchiato is a layered drink, meaning that this cup of morning happiness is built one layer at a time. The heavier ingredients first with lighter ingredients following each other. This allows for every “layer” to gloriously introduce themselves to your tongue essentially at the same time and mixing in the mouth. If prepared “upside-down” the layers are built in reverse so that the heaviest ingredients go last and on the top. Gravity then takes over and a natural blending of the layers occurs PRIOR to the heavenly consumption beginning. Sweet and tasty, THIS is the only way to enjoy a good caramel macchiato. (Now you’ve learned something! Go try one.)
4. Favorite Animal?
My boy, Ryker. The 7-year old (going on 7-month old) German Shepherd gargantuan of a beast that is my best loyal companion and still loves to play with the energy he had as a pup. 😀 I’ve had him since he was 6 months old and love him dearly.
5. Favorite Number?
6. Favorite Color?
Red! Always red. It used to be yellow when I was younger, but red is my favorite color. It’s also Spider-Man’s color! (Seeing as how I AM Spider-Man and all, red would have to be his favorite color! Look at his girlfriend!)
Funny story here: for the longest time, I wouldn’t purchase a red car. Why? Because I used to have a favorite hat that was just the right color red. I never found a car that exact color and didn’t want the two to clash. So I bought a white car. Each car I’ve purchased since then has followed tradition. 🙄 haha
7. My Passion?
I love God. My church, my Savior, my joy through Him and the blessings He has provided me with (my family, my friends, my well-being and more). I very much enjoy being in church! When things get tough and when things are great, the ONE thing I can always count on is Him.
8. Favorite Day of the Week?
I love Sundays, of course, seeing the previous answer above. But, I also really like Thursdays! Normally, Trailer Time Thursday publishes here on the site which is always fun, and I usually have those evenings off, so it’s usually XBOX Live time!
9. Favorite Flower?
I’m not a real big flower lover. I mean, I love to give flowers, but receiving and thus having a favorite flower (?). If I had to pick one, I’d go with the Venus Fly Trap! hahahaha. I mean, it’s just so cool! 😀
I imagine little bugs screaming like “The Fly” saying “Help me…Help me!” whenever I see them. LOL
10. Favorite Soundtrack from 2013?
(M83’s Oblivion soundtrack is high on the list too.)
Well, those are my 10 questions/answers. To end this wonderful portion of this award reception, here are my 10 nominees for The Sunshine Award and keeping the ball rolling. Keep a lookout as to whether or not they decide to answer the questions (I rarely do, myself), but regardless, visit their pages as they all do some great work on their sites! (Yes, some of them are not WordPress sites…and I still picked them, so there!) 🙂
