“Trailer Time Thursday!” 8.15.13

August 15, 2013

Today is THURSDAY!!! And you know what that means!! 🙂 It is officially time for another fun-filled edition of “Trailer Time Thursday!”

Here is your weekly fix of “Triple-T” (aka: “Trailer Time Thursday!”)!!

In case this is your first visit to “Triple-T,” here’s what it’s all about:

Seeing as how everyone loves movie previews, “Trailer Time Thursday!” was created to bring all of the trending trailers that you may have missed in theaters, or just need to see, all in one convenient place! It makes Thursdays so great! Get ready! Your Preview Pandemonium awaits!

Check them out and ENJOY!!! :)

Trailers of the Week:

1. 300: Rise of an Empire (int’l trailer). This trailer features a bit more footage and dialogue (mainly by Xerxes) for this upcoming sequel to 300. Greek general Themistocles fights against Xerxes and the Persians in this action film starring Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro and more. Look for the march of the Greeks to begin on March 7, 2014.

2. Fading Gigolo. Woody Allen is in front of the camera in this dramedy written and directed by John Turturro. Allen plays a man who becomes a manager for his friend Fioravante in order to make some cash as a gigolo. Things get complicated, as usual, when both money and love are involved. Also starring Liev Schreiber, Sofia Vergara, Sharon Stone and more, this one screams Woody Allen all over it and releases later this year.

3. Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters. From the pages of the book to the screen, here comes another Vampire tale in which a half human/ half vampire is part of a group of guardians who must protect the “Moroi” (peaceful but mortal vampires living among us) from the bloodthirsty and immortal vampires known as the “Strigoi.” Starring Olga Kurylenko and others, look for this one to hit theaters on February 14, 2014.

4. Don Jon (trailer#2). Writer, Director and Actor of this film, Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a New Jersey guy who loves his family, church, friends and his adult entertainment. The unrealistic expectations derived from his addiction to pornography lead to complications once he is faced with a real relationship and real love and finds it doesn’t work like it does in his “movies.” Also starring Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore and Tony Danza, look for Don Jon on September 27.

5. Disney Nature’s BEARS. Every Earth Day, Disney brings another great tale celebrating a part of our gorgeous planet. I like many of these documentaries for all ages. Remember Chimpanzee? I enjoyed that. Well, here is another scheduled to come out in 2014 that gives a look at the lives of Alaskan bears. Don’t miss it.

6. How I Live Now. Saoirse Ronan stars in this film from the Academy Award winning director of The Last King of Scotland. When an American girl is visiting the countryside in England she makes friends and soon finds herself fighting for her life when they are suddenly right in the middle of the warzone. This one surprised me and looks rather good. Releasing later this year, what do you think?

7. The Wind Rises. Hayao Miyazaki’s newest film coming from Studio Ghibli focuses on the life of the man who designed fighter planes for the Japanese during WWII, Jiro Horikoshi. This beautiful tale looks to bring joy and tears, happiness and heartache, along with beautifully touching animation. Such is the Studio Ghibli way. Be warned, this trailer may be a bit spoilerish.

Spotlight Video of the Week:

A Featurette for Closed Circuitclosed

A deeper look at the story for the upcoming crime mystery starring Eric Bana, Rebecca Hall and Jim Broadbent. Closed Circuit is the story of a team of lawyers (and ex-lovers) who are in danger and at risk after joining a defense team for the trial of an accused international terrorist. Learn a little bit more of what to expect with this behind-the-scenes video.

Are you interested in seeing this one? Look for it on August 28, 2013.

Well, that’s it for this round of ‘Triple-T’!

My favorite trailers from today: How I Live Now, Don Jon and The Wind Rises.

Which ones are your favorites??

A bunch of awesome trailers this week! I’ve been going *GASP* every time someone posts The Wind Rises trailer. I’m totally excited! Don Jon looks fun, How I Live Now is interesting (always a supporter of Saoirse Ronan), Vampire Academy (almost wrote Diaries) looks like it might have some potential! Awesome post! 🙂

How I Live Now – VERY interested! Ronan is an excellent young actress. 300 – I’m kinda asking “What’s the point?”

As someone who read the books, i found the Vampire Academy teaser trailer horrible. The main friendship in the books didn’t even get hinted at, and instead they seemed to focus on the sex. And the fangs seem way oversized, and the tone seemed all over the place.

And now i will stop ranting. Its just this is the first time a book i liked has gotten a movie adaption, so im kind of invested in it

I like a good rant here and there. No problem, Julian. ha. It always seems that most book fans are let down by most of the movies that are based on books. I will be curious what you think when you see this one. Thanks for sharing man.

Hmm… John Turturro writes a film for himself in which the character he plays is paid to sleep with beautiful women… I can see the appeal.

How I Live Now definitely looks interesting though.
