Trailers of the Week:

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Cap is back. Marvel continues Phase 2 with this next installment that comes after Thor: The Dark World in November. April 4th will see Cap return with more allies and a new enemy that threatens freedom and Washington, D.C. Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Robert Redford and more star in this upcoming action comic adventure…and it looks like S.H.I.E.L.D.’s helicarrier will now be the “U.S.S. Enterprise” of the Marvel franchise movies.

2. Saving Mr. Banks. A great trailer that gives a little bit more insight into the makings of the beloved Disney classic Mary Poppins. Tom Hanks stars as Walt Disney who is obsessed with acquiring the rights for the story of Mary Poppins. Watch as Emma Thompson stars as the author of Mary Poppins and shares her passion and love for the story and the appreciation of it. Watch as Disney seeks to Save Mr. Banks. The story comes to life on December 20, 2013.

3. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. The franchise pushed back this latest installment and now this trailer reveals that the story now leaves its roots in search for more victims (I mean, audience members). The found footage franchise resumes its story and follows those that have been “marked” for possession from mysterious and malicious forces. If you’re at all interested in this horror money grab, look for it on January 3, 2014.

4. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The legend and the laughs continue in this sequel that promises to keep things classy. Escalating quickly Ron Burgundy returns to New York from San Diego to anchor another news show. Get ready for Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and more in this December 20 release.

5. The Book Thief. A new trailer for the WWII drama based on the acclaimed book about a young girl who steals books amid the terrifying conditions in Germany. Her adoptive parents’ home serving as a refuge for Jewish escapees. Her inspiring courage and character are the focus of this drama that stars Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and Sophie Nélisse. Look for it on November 8.

6. That Awkward Moment. Zac Efron, Imogen Poots, Michael B. Jordon, Miles Teller and more star in this rom-com-dramedy (?) about relationships, playing the field and unexpected love. Exploring the awkwardness of uncertainty and the “dtr” conversation (“defining the relationship”) in that point where both parties find themselves curious about “where this is going.” That moment of clarity or calamity will come your way on January 31, 2014.

7. Endless Love. Alex Pettyfer stars in this love story retold. A boy who falls for a privileged girl out of his league and begins a relationship that is made more reckless as a result of her parents opposing it. This romance is sure to grab its target audience as this tale of forbidden and exciting love releases on…you guessed it…Valentine’s Day 2014.

8. Neighbors. Seth Rogen stars with Rose Byrne in this comedy of a married couple who find trouble when a fraternity moves into the neighborhood. The antics ensue in this comedy that is more adult than the college students played by the likes of Zac Efron and Dave Franco. The neighborhood gets crazy on May 9, 2014.

  1. So that trailer got me genuinely excited for Captain America. Well, excited might be a little strong. How about interested! I didn’t care too much, but that looks promising. The first one didn’t do much for me. So… shake up would be good!

  2. Hi, Terrence:

Captain America always performs best when smashing and breaking things. Not inter departmental rivalries between Robert Redford, who looks a bit miscast. And Samuel L. Jackson.

It’s no wonder that taxes are so high. If SHIELD wants to keep their super-duper, stealth Heli-Carrier(s) secret. They should be kept over an ocean and not have it blow up and rain down on NYC.

    Just sayin’.

    • Hi Jackdeth, thank you for chiming in on this week’s trailer offerings. I am actually curious about Robert Redford’s role in Cap2. But it looks as if Scarlett will have more in this film! 🙂

and, yeah…the helicarrier apparently is no big secret anymore, huh?

  3. Hello from NYC, T! 😀

Sheesh, Zac Efron is everywhere isn’t he?? I haven’t exactly warmed up to him yet but I guess he must be quite good.

I love the trailer of Captain America: The Winter Soldier! Can’t wait for that one!
